Indeed it is a great honor and privilege for me to share a few words. Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperative Department employing more than 40 percent of the labour force and contributing more than 20 percent to provincial GDP, is one of the key drivers of growth and an excellent opportunity to practice diversification into areas with comparative advantages of climate. The role of the Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperative Department is to ensure food security, and poverty alleviation and to generate employment opportunities through achieving higher growth rates in this vital sector of the economy. The Department is striving to achieve the future vision i.e. to meet the challenges of the 21st century and to develop a vibrant sector for promoting value addition. The line departments of Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperative Department include Livestock and Dairy Development, Livestock Research and Development Department, Veterinary Research Institute, and Fisheries Department. The line departments are all mandated to ensure effective service delivery.

The Fisheries Department  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to play its role in making Khyber Pakhtunkhwa self-sufficient in the production of white meat (fish) on a sustainable basis by utilizing all available resources of water including canals, streams,  rivers, dams/reservoirs, and commercial fish farms.

The administrative setup of fisheries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was started for the first time in 1958, under the control of Director Fisheries, West Pakistan Lahore (Ministry of Agriculture) and continued as such till June 1970. On 01-07-1987, the Fisheries Wing was declared as an Attached Department under the administrative control of Secretary Forestry Fisheries and Wildlife Department. At present the Director General Fisheries is overall in charge of the Department on the Provincial level and is assisted by (02) Director Fisheries,(02) Additional Director Fisheries, (10) Deputy Director Fish....
